the site has been customized yes, however the part that was modified was content.php . using this – https://themepacific.com/support/topic/remove-feat-image/#post-4122 .
If i do put back that code, the blackbox will disappear. however due to the post that i am doing i will need to remove the featured image part.
were you able to find out why ?

why are there two read more ?
usually your theme will do an automatic cut. i want to do a custom excerpt where it is a specific text. for example

by default, before the read more it is
aaaa bbbb
what i want to do is to have

.
